Visiting Salem
If you have never been to Salem before, the following info may be helpful for you:
- The fall is our busiest season - plan ahead for traffic, expect parking to be very limited and expect substantial waits at large attractions. Book everything you can ahead of time.
- Weekdays in the fall are a bit less crowded, but still busy.
- October road closures are announced every year, in advance, by the city of Salem. Please make a note of this info as it includes much of the immediate downtown area.
- The closest hotels to The Satanic Temple Salem are The Cove and The Hawthorne Hotel.
- There is a train station in downtown Salem and the full schedule can be found at mbta.com.
- Salem has a citywide rideshare program and app called The Salem Skipper.
- The closest international airport is Boston Logan Airport (BOS).
- Salem is known for the Witch Trials of 1692 however there is much more to see. Consider hopping on The Salem Trolley, visiting The House of the Seven Gables and the Peabody Essex Museum for more history.
- There is a seasonal ferry that runs between Boston and Salem. Tickets and info can be found here.
- If you are visiting Salem in the winter, please double check operating hours. Some attractions and businesses have shortened winter hours and some take a small break in the colder months. Examples of this include Pioneer Village, The Salem Trolley, Gallows Hill Theater and The Lobster Shanty.
- New England weather is quite unpredictable - bring layers and plan accordingly.
